As with all of its business practices, Brett is endeavoring to be a good corporate citizen and a model of sustainable development at its Hammond Reef project.

The Hammond Reef project lies within the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe First Nation. Brett has initiated discourse with the First Nation communities located nearest the Hammond Reef deposit in order to start a consultative process in accordance with the Anishinaabe's Great Earth Law. All dealings and discussions with the Anishinaabe Nation have been extremely cordial and supportive to date. In particular, Brett has communicated with Chief Earl Klyne of Seine River First Nation and has had meetings with members of his community and council. Presentations have been made at the Seine River offices outlining the scope of Brett's activities. Elders from the community have visited the Hammond Reef project and have had an opportunity to gain familiarity with the extent of exploration activities there. In September 2008 Brett met in Thunder Bay with all three Chiefs of the local First Nations communities surrounding Hammond Reef to discuss the Company's progress at the project and a consultation plan going forward. Chief Klyne from the Seine River Band has taken the lead contact on behalf of the local bands of Lac la Croix and Lac des Milles Lac.

In September 2009 Brett announced that The Fort Frances Chiefs Secretariat representing the seven First Nations of Couchiching, Lac La Croix, Mitaanjigamiing, Naicatchewenin, Nigigoonsiminikaaning, Rainy River, Seine River; the Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation and Brett Resources Inc. have together signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop and implement an Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA). The MOU covers exploration activities being conducted by Brett on its Hammond Reef Gold Project. The Parties as represented by the Chiefs of the First Nation communities and by representatives of Brett are committed to develop a positive relationship, which recognizes the need for all in the relationship to mutually benefit and co-exist. Subsequent to this MOU the Parties, through a process of mutual respect, ongoing dialogue and regular interaction, wish to develop and implement an IBA to realize their objectives in a mutually beneficial manner. For additional details please refer to the September 8th News Release.

In addition to First Nations consultations, Brett has been working with members of the Atikokan community and town council and has received significant support for the Hammond Reef project. The town council itself has initiated both an airborne geophysical program over the region and a grant to sponsor a geological study of the Hammond Reef deposit by a Lakehead University Masters Geology student.

Brett Resources, the residents of Atikokan and the local First Nations are in agreement that the development of Hammond Reef should be of benefit to all the stakeholders in the region and have a long lasting beneficial impact on the local communities.
